Protests in Iran

Read our take on the current protests in Iran.

Dear Beloved of the Lord,

With a heavy heart I write this letter to all our faithful partners. This week we have watched as many of our sisters and brothers in Iran are being brutally killed as they fight for basic human rights.

The protests began on September 13 after the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian woman who was brutally murdered by Iran's "morality police" after being accused of violating the women's dress code.

Tens of thousands of women are taking to the street, exposing their hair (currently illegal), and cutting their hair, to protest their basic human rights.

Nearly 50 young protestors have been killed and over 1,200 people have been arrested who were associated with the protests. Internet access in the country has been completely blocked. The Iranian military has asked that all citizens identify protestors.

Since 1979, the Iranian people have been living under the tight restrictions of the Islamic Regime which includes harsh punishment for women who do not follow the Islamic dress code.

According to the UN Watch, Iran has one of the worst Human Rights records for any nation. The Human Rights Watch said in 2015, "Women's rights are severely restricted in Iran".

I urge every believer to pray. Spend time praying for the Iranian people. And espeically pray for the women in Iran.

Your support and prayers are vital at this time in history.

As always, we continue to broadcast the message of Christ to Iran via satellite TV, which has *not* been blocked like internet connections have, Praise the Lord.

In His Love,
Pastor Reza Safa
